The short version

What is the best video EPK platform for musicians?

A video EPK is an electronic press kit that opens on moving picture: a short looping video plays behind your name, with your music, credits, bio and contacts below it on one page. The best video EPK platform is the one that puts the video behind your name, plays your music on the page without a login, tells you who opened it, and stays fast on a phone.

For pitching film, TV, trailers and ads, DropCue does all four, from $15/mo. Bandzoogle suits bands who want a full website with merch, EPKBuilder is a simple free start, ReelCrafter suits composers who mostly send reels, and Carrd is the cheapest if you build it yourself. See the comparison, checked October 2026.

What makes a video EPK platform good

  • The video sits behind your name, not in a player halfway down the page
  • Music plays on the page, with no login for the people you send it to
  • You can see who opened it and what they played
  • A still shows first, so the page stays fast on a phone

Six live video EPKs

Video EPK examples you can open and play

Each of these is a live page in The Marquee design, built on a demo account with invented artists and their own music. Open one, press play, and see how the video, the music and the credits sit together.

James Everett Cole, a live EPK in DropCue's Marquee design: Composer · Producer · Los Angeles Film & TV Open page ↗

James Everett Cole · Film & TV

For: Music supervisors and directors hiring a film and TV composer

Opens on a moody looping reel and one line of positioning, then says the catalog is pre-cleared and one-stop before the first track plays. Playlists are named by the job, like Late Night Drives and Synthwave After Dark, so a supervisor lands on the right sound first time.

Nora Valen, a live EPK in DropCue's Marquee design: Composer · Documentary & Drama · Lisbon Documentary & drama Open page ↗

Nora Valen · Documentary & drama

For: Documentary producers and drama editors

A slow ocean loop that sounds like the music looks, and a promise a doc team cares about: send the cut and a sketch comes back within the week. Collections like Nature Doc: Ocean Episode mirror how documentary briefs are written.

Rowan Ashby, a live EPK in DropCue's Marquee design: Composer · Games, Fantasy & Trailers · Vancouver Games & fantasy Open page ↗

Rowan Ashby · Games & fantasy

For: Game audio leads and trailer houses

The banner sells a whole world before a note plays, and the intro answers the game team's first question: interactive stems and loops ship as standard. Cues are grouped as Epic Choir & Orchestra and Boss Fight Cues, the way a game brief reads.

Tern & Tide, a live EPK in DropCue's Marquee design: Songwriting duo · Ads, TV & Film · Cornwall Songs for ads & TV Open page ↗

Tern & Tide · Songs for ads & TV

For: Ad agencies and TV music supervisors looking for songs

A bright, sunlit look that suits brand work, and an intro that lists what an ad needs: vocal and instrumental versions, cutdowns and stems. Playlists like Feel-Good Brand Anthems speak the agency's language.

Stonewake, a live EPK in DropCue's Marquee design: Trailer music label · Epic & hybrid · Reykjavík Trailer music label Open page ↗

Stonewake · Trailer music label

For: Trailer editors and studio music teams

A label EPK that leads with scale: six composers, one mix room, one sound. Every album carries a one-line brief, such as disaster, survival and rebuilding, and every release ships with stems, alt mixes and a full trailer build.

Saint Ellery, a live EPK in DropCue's Marquee design: Indie rock band · Songs for TV, film & ads · Portland, OR Indie rock band Open page ↗

Saint Ellery · Indie rock band

For: Music supervisors placing songs in TV, film and ads

A band EPK that leads with personality (four friends, one garage, recorded live in the room), then gets practical: one-stop, with instrumentals, stems and cutdowns ready. A Ready to Pitch playlist puts the strongest songs first.

The same design on pitches: Last Light and Golden Hour (playlists) and Ember Season (an album).

The Marquee puts your name over your own looping video. Included with Pro and Studio, and in every free trial.

What you control

Your name over a looping film

Upload an MP4 or WebM, 16:9, up to 30 seconds and 30 MB. It loops silently behind your name, your role and a Play button, the way a film opens on its title card.

Your colors, not a template's

Pick an accent for buttons and highlights and a section color for the bands down the page. Choose a Dark, Light or no shade over the video so your name reads on any footage.

One look for portfolios, playlists and albums

The Marquee is a design for your portfolio, for every playlist you share and for album links. Pitch a trailer playlist and it opens with the same cinematic header as your EPK.

A real website, not a reel

Below the video sits everything an EPK needs: featured music that plays on the page, credits, video reels, photo carousels and grids, custom sections, your bio and contacts.

Fast on every phone

A still picture shows the moment the page opens. Visitors with Reduce Motion, Data Saver or a slow connection keep the still and get a small Play video button instead of a clip they did not ask for.

Your link, or your own domain

Share dropcue.app/p/yourname, password protect a page for a private pitch, and run up to 10 portfolios from one account. On Studio, your portfolio can live at your own domain.

Where DropCue is different

  • A film behind your name. The Marquee loops your own 16:9 video behind your name, on your portfolio and on every playlist and album you pitch.
  • Music plays on the page. Listeners press play right there. No login, no app, no trip to another site.
  • Who opened it, per person. Give each recipient their own tracked link and see who opened the page and which tracks they played.
  • Pro from $15/mo. Annual billing, or $19 monthly. The Marquee is on Pro and Studio and in every 7-day free trial.

Where others win

  • A free plan. EPKBuilder, ReelCrafter and Linktree all have free plans. DropCue has a 7-day free trial, then a paid plan.
  • A full band website. Bandzoogle is a whole website with merch and ticket sales, and a free custom domain on its website plans. DropCue includes your own domain on Studio, not Pro.
  • The lowest price. Carrd Pro Standard is $19 a year with your own domain, if you are happy to design and build the page yourself.
  • Lots of uploaded video. ReelCrafter Professional includes 80GB of uploaded video. The Marquee clip is one loop of up to 30 seconds; longer videos go in as reels.

How to make a video EPK in DropCue

1. Start a free trial

Sign up for DropCue. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial with no credit card, and The Marquee is included in the trial, so you can build and publish the whole page before you pay.

2. Pick The Marquee

In Settings, then Portfolio, then Appearance, choose The Marquee as your page design. On a playlist or album, pick it in the Share page template picker.

3. Add your video and a still

Upload a 16:9 MP4 or WebM up to 30 seconds and 30 MB under Video header, plus a still picture for anyone whose device holds the video back. Slow motion that loops cleanly works best.

4. Set your look

Choose your accent and section colors and a Dark, Light or no shade over the video. Write a short headline and tagline so your name reads like a title card.

5. Add music, credits and sections

Star the tracks you want heard first, then add credits, video reels, photos, custom sections, your bio and contacts. The music plays on the page, with no login for the listener.

6. Send tracked links

Share dropcue.app/p/yourname, or add each recipient so they get their own tracked link. Analytics then shows who opened the page and what they played, per person.

Video EPK questions, answered

What is the best video EPK platform for musicians?

It depends on what you send it for. For pitching film, TV, trailers and ads, DropCue puts your name over a looping video, plays your music on the page and shows who opened it per recipient, from $15/mo. Bandzoogle suits bands who want a full website with merch, EPKBuilder is a simple free start with YouTube embeds, ReelCrafter suits composers who mostly send reels, and Carrd is the cheapest if you build it yourself. We checked each on its own site in October 2026.

What is a video EPK?

A video EPK is an electronic press kit that opens on moving picture instead of a flat banner: a short looping video plays behind the artist's name, with the music, credits, bio and contacts below it on one page. For composers and bands pitching film, TV, trailers and ads, it shows a sense of picture before a single track is played. DropCue builds one with The Marquee design.

How do I make a video EPK?

Choose a short 16:9 clip with slow motion that loops cleanly, put it behind your name at the top of the page, then add the music you want heard first, your credits, bio and contacts. In DropCue: start a free trial, choose The Marquee under Settings, Portfolio, Appearance, upload the video and a still, set your colors, add your music and sections, and send each person a tracked link.

Can I make a video EPK for free?

Partly. EPKBuilder's free plan has 1 song and lists no video, Linktree's video wallpaper is on its paid Pro and Premium plans, and a PDF with YouTube links costs nothing but cannot play music or show who opened it. DropCue has no free plan, but its 7-day free trial includes The Marquee, with no credit card.

Is a PDF with a YouTube link a video EPK?

It works when a promoter asks for an attachment, but the video and the music live somewhere else, so every click sends the reader away and you never learn whether they opened it. A web page with the video at the top and the music playing on the page keeps them in one place.

What video works best behind my name?

A 16:9 clip of 10 to 30 seconds with slow, continuous motion that loops without a visible jump: clouds, water, light, ink, a slow push through a room. Avoid text, faces talking and fast cuts, because your name sits on top. DropCue takes MP4 or WebM up to 30 MB, and a file around 10 MB loads faster on phones.

Does the background video slow the page down on phones?

No. The page shows a still picture first and the muted clip starts once it can play. Visitors who have Reduce Motion or Data Saver turned on, or who are on a slow connection, keep the still and see a small Play video button, so nobody downloads a video they did not ask for.

Can I use the video design on playlists and albums too?

Yes. The Marquee is a design for portfolios, for playlist share links and for album links. A playlist puts its title over the looping video, so a pitch to a supervisor opens with the same cinematic header as your EPK. Album links can use Classic, The Marquee, Film Premiere or Listening Room.

Is DropCue a good ReelCrafter alternative for a portfolio site?

For composers who want a portfolio that looks the part and a full pitching workflow behind it, yes. ReelCrafter is known for polished reels. DropCue gives you a full portfolio website with a looping video header, six portfolio designs and six playlist designs, and unlimited listening history, with Pro at $15/mo (annual) against ReelCrafter Professional at $20.83. ReelCrafter has a free plan and a cheaper custom domain pack ($5/mo); DropCue has a 7-day free trial and includes your own domain on Studio.

What does a video EPK on DropCue cost?

The Marquee and the other premium designs are on Pro, from $15/mo with annual billing ($19 monthly), and on Studio, from $29/mo annual, which adds your own domain and the Business Suite. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial with no credit card, and you can build and publish your page during the trial. The Artist plan ($8/mo annual) does not include a portfolio.

Can my video EPK live at my own domain?

Yes, on the Studio plan. Type your domain in Settings, add the three DNS records DropCue gives you, and your portfolio shows at yourname.com with HTTPS handled for you. Your dropcue.app/p/ address keeps working too.
