How to Auto-Upload Your Bounces From Dropbox to Your Music Library
The short version
Connect Dropbox once in DropCue's Settings, pick the folders you bounce to, and every new mix you save there shows up in your DropCue library on its own, usually a few minutes later. It arrives with a playable preview and waveform, AI Metadata can fill in genre, mood and keywords, and stems named like Song_STEMS_Bass.wav file themselves under the full mix. DropCue only reads those folders and never changes anything in your Dropbox. Dropbox Sync is on Pro (3 folders) and Studio (10 folders).

Why This Exists
Every bounce used to mean another upload. Finish a mix, export it, open your music library, drag the file in, fill in the details, and do it all again after the next round of notes. Most composers already save every bounce into Dropbox anyway, so the library should just read from there.
That is all Dropbox Sync does. Your DAW keeps saving where it always has, and DropCue keeps up.
How to Set It Up
- Step 1: Connect Dropbox. On a computer, open Settings, then Dropbox Sync, and click Connect Dropbox. Sign in to Dropbox and click Allow.
- Step 2: Pick a folder. Click Add folder. Folders open like in Finder, and the audio files inside are listed so you know you are in the right place. When you are inside the folder you bounce to, click Sync this folder.
- Step 3: Choose what happens to new tracks. Send them to your Media Library, or to the library and a playlist you pick. Turn AI Metadata on or off for that folder, and decide whether to also bring in the files already sitting in it.
Repeat for each folder you use: one per client, one per album, or one big Bounces folder.
What Happens When You Save a Bounce
- A short wait first. A new file waits about 2 minutes after it is saved, in case your DAW is still writing it. Then it is copied in. A long WAV can take a few more minutes.
- It plays right away. WAV, AIFF and FLAC files get a streaming preview and a waveform, just like a normal upload.
- You can see it happen. The Media Library shows a small Dropbox chip with what is waiting and importing, synced tracks carry a Dropbox badge, and the bell tells you when tracks arrive.
- Tags fill in. With AI Metadata on, each new mix gets genre, mood, instruments and keywords.
DropCue imports WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, M4A and OGG files up to 1 GB. Session files, video and documents are left alone.
Stems, Versions and Copies
Stems file themselves. Name stems with STEM or STEMS between the song name and the part, like Night Drive_STEMS_Drums.wav, and they nest under the main mix from the same folder (Night Drive_Full Mix.wav, Night Drive (Full Mix).wav or just Night Drive.wav) in a Stems section. One song stays one song in your library. For more on naming, see how track versions nest in DropCue.
Re-saves become versions. Save a file again under the same name and the new copy is added as a version under the first track, in a Revisions section with the date in its title. Nothing is overwritten.
Copies are skipped. The same file in two synced folders, or a copy of something already imported, is added once.
What DropCue Can and Cannot Touch
DropCue only reads the folders you choose. It never changes, moves or deletes anything in your Dropbox. Deleting a file in Dropbox does not delete the track in DropCue, and deleting a synced track in DropCue does not bring it back on the next sync.
You can pause or remove any folder, or disconnect Dropbox entirely. Tracks already in your library stay.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I automatically upload music from Dropbox to DropCue?
Yes. With Dropbox Sync, any audio file saved into a folder you choose is added to your DropCue library automatically, usually within a few minutes. You connect Dropbox once in Settings and pick the folders.
How many Dropbox folders can I sync?
Pro syncs up to 3 folders and Studio syncs up to 10. Each folder includes its subfolders, so one folder can cover a whole project.
Does DropCue change or delete files in my Dropbox?
No. DropCue only reads the folders you sync. It never changes, moves or deletes anything in your Dropbox.
How does DropCue know which files are stems?
By the file name. A file named like Song_STEMS_Bass.wav is filed under the main mix with the same song name in the same folder. If no main mix arrives, the stem becomes its own track.
What happens if I bounce the same mix again?
The new file is added as a version under the original track, in a Revisions section with the date in its title, so you keep every pass. An identical copy is skipped.
Does it work with Google Drive or a local folder?
Not yet. Dropbox Sync works with Dropbox folders, which also covers any folder on your computer that Dropbox keeps in sync.
