Portraits of people in the places they know best.
I photograph people where they live and work, mostly in Brooklyn and along the coast of Maine, where I grew up. I shoot portraits and editorial work for magazines and fashion brands, and I keep two long personal projects going: a portrait series of the fishing crews in the harbor town where my grandfather worked, and Low Tide, a slow study of the same stretch of shore in fog. I work with natural light whenever I can and keep shoots small and quiet. Most of my portraits are made in under an hour, at the sitter's home or somewhere they know well.
